Freudian Slips
I keep this Post It taped to the inside of my door in case I need it. It is from a book of ‘Freudian Slips’ sticky notes that I bought from the Freud Museum shop at number 20 Maresfield Gardens. This is where Sigmund Freud spent the last year of his life before he died; it became a museum later. Everything Sigmund brought with him when he was forced to leave Vienna by the Nazis, is in his study there. It really is worth the visit. The museum shop is full of weirdly desirable trinkets and books. Apart from the Freudian Slips, there is ‘FREUD - a graphic novel guide to the father of psychoanalysis’. I haven’t read much of Freud’s work but I read this, and learned everything. The anarchic humour and daring is something I recognise - and it made me feel connected to him.
